Client: Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
Service Provided: Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Impact Report
Project Description:
We provided an in-depth analysis of both regional and localized air quality and GHG impacts from the multi-year improvement program at the Weymouth Plant. Using CalEEMod and adherence to SCAQMD and CEQA guidelines, we quantified emissions over several overlapping construction projects and operational phases, identifying potential exceedances in VOCs and recommending solutions such as super-compliant coatings, electrified equipment, and LEED-certified building designs. We also integrated findings with Metropolitan’s Climate Action Plan to support their carbon-reduction goals.
Benefits:
Our work delivered a clear roadmap for reducing emissions while meeting infrastructure goals, enabling Metropolitan to remain compliant with stringent regulatory frameworks and climate commitments. The actionable recommendations — from material selections to energy-efficient designs — helped optimize construction practices, minimize community exposure to pollutants, and align the project with California’s broader decarbonization strategies, demonstrating technical excellence and forward-looking environmental stewardship.
