Project Description:
This federally funded Highway Bridge Program (HBP) project replaces an obsolete bridge over the Mokelumne River with a new structure accommodating two lanes and meeting hydraulic, navigational, and seismic standards. Alternatives included single- and double-leaf bascule designs.
Service: Noise Study Report
Solution: We performed an FHWA-compliant noise study, collecting field measurements with Larson-Davis Model 824 Type 1 SLMs and modeling future traffic noise using TNM 2.5. We evaluated six sensitive receptor locations and confirmed all alternatives remained below FHWA/Caltrans Noise Abatement Criteria (NAC).
Benefits: Our clear findings eliminated the need for costly noise barriers, enabling the County to deliver a modern, safe, and compliant bridge that preserves the quiet rural character of the surrounding community.
