Project Description:
Caltrans and the County proposed to realign a 6.5-mile stretch of SR-4 between Copperopolis and Angels Camp to improve safety, relieve congestion, and meet modern design standards — funded under federal highway programs.
Service: Noise Study Report
Solution: We evaluated noise impacts at eleven sensitive receptor locations, monitoring field conditions and modeling 2036 traffic noise under multiple build scenarios using TNM 2.5. Even with projected traffic doubling, noise levels remained below FHWA NAC standards.
Benefits: Our findings supported an operationally and environmentally superior design, allowing the County to improve a vital rural corridor while maintaining compliance and avoiding unnecessary mitigation.
